The Deanwood Citizens Association and the Friends of Deanwood Library are pleased to announce the kick-off of the Community Conversations Saturday Series. During these conversations, local experts will lead discussions about topics important to the community. All are welcome to join and the series audio will be recorded and posted for posterity.

May is Nannie Helen Burroughs month in Washington DC. Mayors have proclaimed and the Deanwood community has held May festivals in her honor for generations. Join us at 1pm on May 30 for a panel discussion featuring Deanwood historians Alice Chandler and David Smith as well as Colonel Jim Wyatt, Founder of The Nannie Helen Burroughs Project. More information about Col. Wyatt's research can be found on his website: http://www.nburroughsinfo.org/.

We look forward to learning from one another during these times where we must be distant. As Nannie Helen Burroughs said: “To struggle and battle and overcome and absolutely defeat every force designed against us is the only way to achieve.”
