Call for Volunteers: Book Sale and Book Packing, October 31, 2009

The Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library will be packing up donations for delivery to Books Plus, the Library Store at the main branch of the DC Public Library on Saturday, October 31, 2009 and we would love to have some help.

There will be a book sale at the branch earlier in the day in a final attempt to get books into the hands of the community before they are packed for delivery. The Mount Pleasant Branch Library will close in January 2010 for expansion and renovation and all donated materials will need to be removed in anticipation of the branch closure.

The book sale is from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and the book packing is from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm. If you can volunteer for any part of the day, please respond to Richard Huffine at richardhuffine@yahoo.com.

If you can’t come help, plan to come by and shop. The Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library collects a fascinating array of books from the community it serves.

Another successful book sale!

Thanks to everyone in the community: our volunteers, book donors and all the shoppers! Our book sale on March 25 was a huge success and we once again raised over $500 to buy new books for the library!

Our next book sale will be outside on Mount Pleasant Street for the Mount Pleasant Day Festival on Sunday, June 4. As always, we hope you’ll drop off your old books at the library and the Friends will work to find them new homes either in the library or through a book sale.

Spring Book Sale – March 25

Mark your calendars for the Spring Book Sale, Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 10:00 – 2:00 pm.

Our book storage room is almost full so it is time to open the doors and share some great books with the community. All sales will generate funding to support new materials in the collection of the Mount Pleasant Branch Library.

We have received lots of donations from members of the community and all these books are looking for good homes and hungry readers. We even have a lot of childrens books as well as books in foreign languages.

Plan to come to the Library (3160 16th Street, NW at Lamont Street) and stick around a while to browse through all the stacks of books we’ve been collecting.

If you’d like to volunteer to work the sale, please send an e-mail to Friends President, Richard Huffine at richardhuffine@yahoo.com
