About Us

The Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization supporting the Mount Pleasant branch of the District of Columbia Public Library system.

The Mount Pleasant Branch is a historic library branch in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the District of Columbia. Situated at the corner of 16th and Lamont Streets, NW, the branch serves all of Ward One and specifically the neighborhoods of Mount Pleasant, Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, and Crestwood. Since the closure of the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Branch in January, 2005, the branch also serves much of the U Street cooridor as well as areas of Dupont, Logan, and Shaw.

The Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library is committed to supporting the library staff in serving our community. We raise awareness of the needs of our community and we raise funds to contribute to meet critical needs in a timely manner.
