Library Oversight Hearing, February 12, 2007
There will be a public hearing on the performance of the District of Columbia Pulbic Libraries during Fiscal Years 2006-2007. The hearing is this coming Monday, February 12, 2007 at 10:00 am. To sign up to provide testimony, contact Angel Hicks at 724-8107 or e-mail ahicks@dccouncil.us. The meeting is being held in the Council Chamber (Room 500) of the John A. Wilson Building at 1400 Pennsylvania Ave. NW and will be Chaired by the Committee on Libraries, Parks, and Recreation Chairperson, Harry Thomas, Jr. If you cannot attend but would like to submit written testimony, you can also address that correspondence to Mrs. Hicks.
This hearing will focus on performance measures that District of Columbia Public Library reports as part of their budget and will include measures of circulation, program attendance, and the use of special services provided by the Library System. There will be separate hearings in March or April about the allocation of funds for libraries where the Friends will be able to advocate for more funds to improve facilities, staffing levels, and issues of safety in our libraries.
