Mayor’s Proposed Budget Released
Mayor Anthony Williams has released a proposed budget for the DC Public Library System in FY2007 that includes a 22.3% increase in funding, bringing the Library System’s Annual budget to more than $42 million in local funds.
The increases in funding are targeted to adding hours in branch libraries, expanding library collections, and investing in the furniture and equipment available in libraries across the city. Specific increases are also targeted for fleet management, technology access, and language access.
The District of Columbia Council will hold a hearing on the proposed budget for the library system at 11:00 am on April 6, 2005 in Room 412, Wilson Bldg, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave, NW. To sign up to testify, contact the Committee staff at 202-724-8195.
