New Legislation Passed Establishes Library Buildings Task Force
On Wednesday, January 5, 2006, the DC Council approved by consent (meaning there were no objections to the motion), the passage of the “Library Enhancement, Assessment, and Development Amendment Act of 2005 (B16-0049).” The Act created a Task Force of 11 members that will review the DC Comprehensive Plan, Capital Construction Master Plan and other documents and develop a strategic plan to raise revenue to fund the construction and renovation of library facilities. These actions must be taken within 180 days of the effective date of the act.
